In Dans van Ali-Zadeh, Amsterdam Sinfonietta brings together folk music from the Caucasus.

The rich, deeply rooted dance tradition remains vibrant in Azerbaijani society. Ali-Zadeh's Reqs reflects this lively tradition. In her brand-new cello concerto, she features cellist Ivan Monighetti. The 10th-century Havoun Havoun by the Armenian monk, poet, and theologian deals with the resurrection of Christ. Many of the thousands of Armenian folk songs collected and published by Komitas were lost during the Armenian genocide.

Chinar-es is one of the preserved traditional songs. Dutch cellist of Georgian descent, Ketevan Roinishvili, performs Georgian folk music. For the virtuosic Gossamer Road, Florian Magnus Maier drew inspiration not only from Georgian music but also from flamenco and Persian music.
