Fish has a rare gift that few singers possess: the ability to touch your heart!

After four decades of hits, memorable concerts, and a life dedicated to music, Fish, an absolute icon in the world of progressive rock, is saying goodbye to his fans during the Road To The Isles Tour. While it’s a shame to see this great musician step away from the stage, fans can look forward to a spectacular farewell on October 5 at the Music Center Enschede!

For this occasion, the singer and songwriter has assembled a band made up of musicians, and especially friends, with whom he has shared the stage during his 35-year solo career. On keyboards, he’s bringing Mickey Simmonds, a key co-writer on Fish’s first two solo albums after leaving Marillion in 1988.

Guitarist Robin Boult has also been on the tour bus since those early albums and appears on 13th Star, Feast of Consequences, and the highly acclaimed latest album Weltschmerz from 2020, which also features contributions from bassist Steve Vantsis. Fans will be thrilled that drummer Gavin Griffiths and backing vocalist Elisabeth Troy Antwi are also part of this fantastic band.

Together, they will draw from an impressive catalog, including not only solo work but also songs from Fish’s time with Marillion. Fish: “The setlist will be covering twelve solo albums and, of course, there will be material from my time with Marillion. There are a few epics from that period that I’d be remiss if I ignored, and to be honest, I’m actually looking forward to revisiting a couple of those tracks.”

This standing concert is a collaboration between Wilminktheater, Muziekcentrum Enschede, and Metropool.

Fish on what people say about Fish

Who is Fish?

Derek William Dick, better known as Fish (born April 25, 1958, in Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland), is a progressive rock singer, songwriter, and actor. After a career as a gardener and forest ranger, he gained fame in 1981 as the lead singer of the English rock band Marillion. He left the band in 1988 after four successful albums and hits like "Kayleigh" to pursue a solo career, scoring a solo hit in 1990 with "A Gentleman's Excuse Me."

Fish claims to have gotten his stage name because he enjoys long baths. His lyrics are highly poetic and often have a complex, socially critical nature. His music, live performances, imposing presence, distinctive Scottish-accented voice, and sense of drama have made him a significant figure in the world of progressive pop music.
