Violin Sonata No. 3 is typically a work from Beethoven's early period.

The Erzherzog (Archduke), referring to Archduke Rudolf of Austria, was not only a friend and patron of Beethoven but also his piano student. Despite Beethoven's poor health, the piano trio radiates vitality, intimacy, and joy of life.

With the premiere, the composer bid farewell to the stage, as his deafness prevented him from performing publicly. Beethoven's final cello sonata was described at the time as “the most unusual and peculiar piece written in a long time.” Violin Sonata No. 3 is typically a work from Beethoven's early period, when he was still strongly influenced by his predecessors, such as Mozart and Haydn, but also introduced some of his own innovative stylistic elements.
