A twist on Tchaikovsky's famous Rococo Variations—not on cello, but on euphonium!

Tchaikovsky's famous Rococo Variations are presented here not in their original cello version, but in a unique arrangement for euphonium, a brass instrument that, with its mellow tone, beautifully complements the cello. Leave it to Sergei Nakariakov, the renowned Russian trumpet virtuoso who has also made a name for himself on the euphonium.

The program also features more Tchaikovsky with his romantic fantasy overture Romeo and Juliet. To conclude the concert, Principal Conductor Alexei Ogrintchouk will lead the Fifth Symphony by Prokofiev. Written just before the end of World War II, the composer referred to it as 'a hymn to the free and happy man.'

On Sunday, March 16, at the Muziekcentrum in Enschede: Prokofiev's Symphony for Peace.

Tchaikovsky as you have never heard it before.
