Catharsis (n.; plural: catharses)
purification, cleansing
sudden and intense resolution of (psychological) issues

Catharsis (Greek: κάθαρσις kátharsis) is a term from narratology meaning "emotional purification." It describes the effect of evoking powerful emotions such as sadness, fear, compassion, or even laughter in the audience, who then undergo a purification of these same feelings.

With her unique voice, she immerses the audience in emotions, bringing her deeply-rooted soul music back to its essence. KOVACS makes a triumphant return to Dutch theaters with her latest art project, "CATHARSIS." After an intensive rehabilitation at the beginning of 2023, the talented artist has focused on exploring her "higher powers." This creative process unfolds live on stage, where the audience becomes part of the emotionally purifying experience. For the first time, KOVACS will not only express her art vocally but also physically overwhelm the spectators with her multidisciplinary artistic expression.

Sharon Kovacs broke through a few years ago with hits like "My Love" and "Diggin'." After performing at festivals such as Lowlands, Glastonbury, and North Sea Jazz, she has made a significant impression beyond her home country's borders with her raw, dark vocal sound. She has since released three albums, including her latest, "Child Of Sin," from 2023, which features a striking collaboration and video with Till Lindemann. Her music, infused with mystery and enchantment, promises an overwhelming and unforgettable experience for all theatergoers.
