The trumpeter had a special connection with the Netherlands, the country where he met his dramatic end.

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw, in collaboration with the Dutch Jazz Archive, delves deeper into the life and work of Chet Baker. The trumpeter had a special connection with the Netherlands, the country where he met his dramatic end.

In 1955, Baker performed a legendary night concert at the Concertgebouw. The album released from these recordings stands as a monument to the trumpeter's early work. Baker also made studio recordings in Hilversum in 1979. The tapes had been lost for a long time but were recently released worldwide as the album Blue Room, thanks to the Dutch Jazz Archive.

During this concert, star trumpeter Ruud Breuls will take on the role of Chet Baker with great enthusiasm. Breuls previously performed the trumpet parts in the film My Foolish Heart, which depicted the last days of Baker's life in Amsterdam. The presentation will be led by Frank Jochemsen from the Dutch Jazz Archive, with contributions from Chet Baker biographer Jeroen de Valk.

Join us on Thursday, October 10 at the Music Center in Enschede for Dutch Jazz Heritage - Chet Baker.
