Introdans presents a monumental showcase of minimalist dance.

In a serene opening scene, to the calm piano sounds of Simeon ten Holt's *Canto Ostinato*, the dancers prepare for what is to come. They lean as if facing the wind, their arms slicing through the air, as if getting ready for a battle. Suddenly, the sound of rising wind machines overwhelms the soft piano music. The dancers take deep breaths and begin to fight proudly and defiantly against this (invisible) force, making it tangible through their dance.

In the spring of 2025, the impressive dance performance *Typhoon* (1986) by choreographer Krisztina De Châtel will be restaged by the dancers of Introdans. The performance, which tests De Châtel's minimalist style as a flying storm, combines De Châtel's choreographic precision with the power of the wind machines.

Roel Voorintholt, artistic director of Introdans, explains that he has always admired Krisztina De Châtel's minimalist work. He emphasizes the importance of preserving and restaging existing choreographies to prevent dance from being quickly forgotten and to introduce new audiences to these remarkable works.

For *Typhoon*, Krisztina De Châtel collaborated with visual artist Peter Vermeulen and composer Simeon ten Holt. Vermeulen, known for his work with energy and moving images, conceived the idea of having dancers directly contend with the unpredictable forces of the wind. Using three wind machines, ranging from a gentle breeze to a powerful storm, he created an environment in which the dancers confront the challenge that De Châtel envisioned for them.
